Default How can I get my American Bulldog to listen to my Wife

I have a 1 1/2 year old American Bulldog/ Pit bull mix name Zypher. He is very obedient to me but I can not figure out a way to get him to listen to my wife when I am not there. He barks at her every time she gets on the phone, makes dinner, or does the dishes. When I leave he will immediately start chewing things that he know he's not allowed to, He does not do any of this while I am home. She tried ignoring him when she comes in or when he barks, he will just bark for hours. She has tried to impose a dominate role over him, but he does not respond to her that way. If any one has any ideas please write.

I'm not sure how good method is that (was on 'Me or my dog'), but as u wrote she should show, that she is his boss. They started by showing the dog who has to eat first. You should put your dog on leash, and ask your wife to eat from a plate in front of your dog. Then she gives food to your buddy, but he eats when she lets him. So, when u see that a dog is pulling leash and trying to reach food, you should say 'no' or 'aaa' and take bowl away. She should teach dog patiente, and that she is the one who decides wheather he will eat or not.
There were way more advices, I'm sure u will find it out .
Dogs mostly have one true BOSS who they will admire and protect.
Wish u luck anyway!

It's possible that your dog behaves like this because he sees your wife as a stranger. The situation you described as how your wife treats your dog is not that detailed so I can't say much. But try looking it that way. There must be a difference on how you treat your dog from how your wife treats him thus the difference too on your dog's reactions. Showing the dog who's the boss is good, but dominance can't be imposed without respect. As we all know, dogs have emotions and he can suffer from longing from you when you are not present. This may also be one reason why he acts that way as you described it, separation anxiety.

You need to make your wife the Alpha Dog. There is plenty of information on the internet about how to do this. As soon as your wife is the Alpha Dog your dog will respect and listen to her.

Good luck!
