I have a 7 month old pit bull/ yellow lab mix. Absolutely great pup, working on basic commands, and he is learning them well. One basic area of training I am trying to break is how excited(not in an aggressive way) he becomes when he sees other dogs on his leash. I have tried to socialize him with other friends pups to curve this behavior. What else can I work on with him to break this bad habit? I will greatly appreciate any help

I would suggest that before you take him to an area where you know there are going to be a lot of dogs that you excersize him rigoroulsy so that he does not have alot of energy to get so excited...or perhaps desensitization. Take him to an area where there are alot of dogs but dont get too close. When he remains calm, reward him. Do this everytime you take him out for about 5 or 10 minutes, each time getting closer to the other dogs. If he starts getting too excited, back up. Eventually you should be able to take him right up to another dog without the unwanted behavior. Just a sniff and wag of the tail. Hope that helps.
