I just recently added a new puppy to our home. I got him when he was 7 weeks old. He is now 12 weeks old and is a daschund. Our 3 year old daschund and the new puppy do not get along so well. The new puppy was biting and I know this is normal; however, my 3 year old is now submissive to the puppy. The 3 year old has bite scabs all over his body and I cannot seem to control the puppy's biting habit. I've tried the water misting in the face, bought the chew toys, and spray (no bite) solutions. What do you suggest?

Hey there,
Though dog biting may be normal, there are many reasons as to why a dog bites: jealousy, anger, fear, or territorialism, or an attempt to establish dominance. Your new pup might be biting for one of those reasons. Your best bet is to find out first why exactly he's biting before you take some action. ![]() |
