Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself (and my puppy). My husband and I recently bought a house with a large, fenced in yard and in a wonderfully pet-friendly area of town. We've been excited to get a puppy ever since we closed on the house (years of renting kept us from being dog owners...). We adopted Sampson, a German Shepherd/Lab mix, from the Humane society at 8 weeks old about 2 1/2 weeks ago and things are going pretty well. However, we REALLY want him to be a well behaved dog and have our doubts sometimes. I'm not sure what's "normal" puppy behavior and what is cause for concern. Both my husband and I grew up with dogs in the family but were not involved in the training, as our parents handeled that! I'm happy to find a forum where we can possibly learn from other dog owners!
