Red face Doggy Play Clubs?

Hello all. I am not sure if there is anyone even in my area here (I live in Oregon) but I was wondering if anyone knew of a good website or a good way to get out and know other dog owners who wouldn't mind me letting my dog socialize. I could just go to the dog park but I would feel more comfortable (and then my dog would feel more comfortable) if I had a group of people who knew what I was trying to do. I'm really trying to stay away from expensive clubs and things like that. If anyone knows of a site? or if anyone is in my area? that would be great!
