Exclamation Hey we just adopted and have questions

Hello everyone,

Our family just adopted a hybrid Australian Cattle dog named Victory Belle. She has an awesome temperament, is great with small kids as well as older, and is basically just a total lover! The problem we are having is that she bolts. She has gotten out three times in the past 2 days, she knows how to open our back gate (6 foot high wood fence) and bolts as soon as the door opens. She was just spayed on Monday and I am scared she is going to hurt herself. I would not have been able to get her back into the house without the help of my neighbors. Within 30 seconds she is down the block and around the corner and wont come when called. Does anyone have any advice on teaching her not to run away?
My husband and I have both had several dogs, most of them were dominant breeds (ie. pit-bulls and boxers) and I have never had this problem.
Appreciate any advice!

Thanks, Cecily

Thumbs up Re: Hey we just adopted and have questions

Hi Cicily,
Hey I don't know if you have tried this training method before, but I am going to recommend a shock collar. Now don't get worried when I suggest this, they are very safe and show wonderful result's. You only need to use them as a training tool until your dog get's the idea that as long as he or she want's to run, the collar will remain on. I have an article about shock collar's on my blog if you would like some more info about them. I hope this help's.

Wink Re: Hey we just adopted and have questions

We just adopted a weimaraner and he constantly darted away from us. We have a large yard but live on a busy street, I was scared to death he would get hurt. We recently had an invisable fence installed and its PERFECT! He is a big, powerful dog and will not go near this fence. The biggest mistake with an invisable fence it that people try to install them thereselves-Don't do this!!! It will be a waste of your money.
