We have a sweet, adorable, minature Australian Sheep Dog who is 4+ months old. He is crate trained. He will urinated outside when taken out 95% of the time. However, he will often defecate inside very shortly after being taken out in the yard for 10-20 minutes!? He will sometimes do it right in front of you, so he clearly doesn't think he's doing anything wrong.
He is otherwise intelligent: he will sit on command and plays ball well. Thanks in advance for any comments. Bill |

Hi bsetoon, I would like to ask, have you tried to do something about your dog pooping inside your house? If you said he's crate trained, then you should try other kinds of reinforcements. Your pet is still quite young and it's the perfect time to reinforce his trainings. There's a page on DOA which you can read on about some general house training tips and positive reinforcements, The Seven House-Training Essentials. Go check it out

1) Take your dog out to do it duty (normally 30-45 min after eating)
2) Walk around and if still no poop bring inside and crate him for one hour. 3) Try again you should then get poop. 4)Praise, praise and praise some more Also, if your dog tends to have a 'special' spot n the house to relieve, I would use white vinegar or something to get the smell out. |
