Help...desperate!!!
My name is Heather and my husband and I have 5 month old weimaraner named Rogue. She is the sweetest thing ever and extremely intelligent. But we have a huge problem. When Rogue is left alone she defacates and then plays in it. We were originally crating here when we got her at the age of 11 weeks. Everyone and all the literature tells us that dogs will not go to the bathroom in their crates if they can help it. Well, not our dog. She would defacate in the crate every time she was left alone, flinging it all about the cage and everything around the cage. We tried everything. Finally, we decided that a small confined room may be better for her. If she could go to the bathroom and have room to walk away from it and leave it alone maybe that would help. Well, no luck. She is now left in a small room when home alone and still does the same thing. She defacates, jumps in it, and smears it all over the entire room. We have hired a personal obedience trainer through Bark Busters. We have been working with him for about a month. We have seen improvement in a lot of Rogue's behavior, but the main problem which I've discussed is still there. Both my husband and I fell like were going crazy!! We try not to leave the house as much as possible so we won't haveclean up poop for an hour upon returning! The vet and the trainer both say "it's just gonna take time". But how much time? Why does my dog like to play in her own feces? We feel hopeless at this point. We love Rogue dearly and desperately want to resolve this horrible habit. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! Please Help!!!!!
