Default Charlies walks

Hi,
I'm a little worried about our Little Dog Charlie
He doesn't want to go for walks anymore,
Before I would come home from work and he would beg me to take him for his walk, and off we would go.He would be joined sometimes, more often than not, by his friend and nieghbour, Carlos, who would join us and be his body guard and playmate.
Just over the last week he has started to hide in door ways, pull back in the opposite direction, and most recnetly, drp to the floor and refuse to move.
What can we do?
He still begs for his walk, but as soon as were out, he wants to come back again!
any ideas???

Has he had a fright on a walk before this behaviour started to happen?
Can you lift him and take him somewhere you don't normally walk and see if he does the same?

He may be afraid of something. It might help if you try and figure out what that something is. Could it be carlos? What age is your dog now? He may be in a fear stage.
