I just got an American Bulldog pup she is about 2 months old. Most of the time when I try to take her outside for a walk she might take a couple steps, but then just lays down. She will walk sometimes when I walk my other dog at the same time, but even that is only sometimes. Any suggestions?

Hi kiwi537! Puppy Love Pet Care's suggestion is great and I'm sure it will work for most dogs.
Just an additional tip, make sure you have a good choke leash. Try to put the leash at the highest part of the neck as if you were in a dog show. This will give you control over the dog because this part of the neck is very sensitive. Have the dog sit up and then have him stand. Move a few steps and if the dog moves forward, keep on walking. If the dog seems like he is going to stop, relax and try to keep going. Also, if you don't have cat toys that you can dangle infront of your dog, you can lure him with treats. |

Most vets recommend taking pups on their first walk no sooner than their 4th month - they may just get too scared when you take them out too early. Although, when I did take a 4 month old dog for a walk the first time, she just wouldn't do. She would plan herself just at the entrance of the gate and she just wouldn't budge. I'm sure it was a funny sight, but its not that funny when it's happening to you. What i did later on was to coax her with treats. She likes that and would soon be outside the gate, but the she stops and once again refuse to move an inch. However, I discovered that if i break out in a jog, she would do get up and follow me. That's what I did for the first week that I was taking her out. She later got used to the idea and now walks more voluntarily.
