Peanuts are fine, but there are certain kinds that aren't; like macadamia nuts. Cantaloupe should be fine too.

I have always heard that dog should not be fed with food full of MSG's or monosodium glutamate. The powder that we use to make the meal more tasty. They say that a spoonful of MSG being fed purely to dogs can be lethal.

Raw food can be bad for dogs as like us humans, they can get poisoned and get parasites from eating them. Cantaloupe is a fruit, right, so there's no problem on that. Just give it in bite size or smaller pieces to avoid choking.

I am really worried. I was eating my sandwich the other night and nymphy jumped up and ate a piece of it. It was a peanut butter and Jelly sandwich. I know that peanut butter in small amounts is not bad but, is jelly safe for a dog to eat? it was grape jelly by the way, not the kind with seeds in the jelly.

Cantaloupe is fine.....peanuts are fine. Almost any living food is fine for most dogs to eat. The real problem is what is in the food that you feed your dog everyday......Check the ingredient list on your dog's food....If wheat, corn or soy is one of the top 5 ingredients, throw it away.

Hi Retrievergirl, since you are nutritionist, can you share with us why these kind of ingredients (wheat, corn, soy) are harmful to our pets, considering they are good for us on our digestive system, right?

Actually, wheat, corn and soy aren't that very good for humans either. Of course everything is relative. There are a lot more unhealthy things for you to eat, but if you ever find yourself having some health problems that can't be fixed, try giving those up for a month and see how you feel.
For dogs, they are very hard to digest, which means that they don't absorb the nutrients in the food....they are empty calories....Sooo....Your dog could be getting really fat and still not be getting anywhere near the amount of nutrients he needs. Many dogs also have subtle allergies to grains, especially wheat. This can lead to ear infections/scratching etc.... All dog foods are required to list the nutrient content of their food on the label. But just because it is listed, does not mean that it is usable to your dog. If you really want your dog to be in good health, switch to a high quality brand like Blue Buffalo or Orijen, or start feeding him a homecooked or raw diet. The usual brands like purina and science diet and pedigree etc are a guarantee for bad health problems down the road. |
