Dogs usually dig when they get bored. Talking your dog for a walk is one of the things you can do to stop him from digging. When his attention is diverted somewhere else, he'll be able to forget about digging.
Getting a sandbox where he can dig is also a wonderful idea. You can even plant stuff in the sand. You can put grass or even hide a bone to surprise your dog so he can be accustomed to digging only on that specific place. It'll also be great if you put a fence around the area where you don't want your dog to dig. It doesn't have to be an expensive fence, just something to keep him from wandering around those areas. You also have to observe your dog. When he digs in the 'off-limits' area, you have to go there rightaway and correct his behavior. Hold his paw and say "Stop!" then redirect him to the place where he can dig. I found this article that contains tips on how to stop dog digging, you can check it our here: http://dogobedienceadvice.com/advice...gging_dogs.php I hope this information helps. ![]()

You can also set up a little sandbox and fill it with a mixture of dirt and sand and let him know this is where he can dig. Put some chew toys or treats just underneath the surface of the sand and dirt to encourage him to dig there. If he digs anywhere else in your yard then correct him immediately with a quick "no" or "aaaaggghhhhh". Using this method he will still be allowed to dig but not destroy your yard or garden. hi, i just went to a website and learned that dogs dig for different reasons. some dogs dig because their breed is a digger, while other dogs dig because they are bored. some dogs dig because they feel hot and digging up the hotter dirt on top gives them cooler dirt to lay down on. check out this link for more info: Behavior Problems - Digging Problems, Stop Your Dog from Digging in the Yard, Your Garden, in the Flowers
