Default Dachshund biting problem

My dachshund has bitten a neighbour of mine when he entered out garden and she was out there and i was inside. she rarely bites and is wonderfully warm and loving to everyone. she seems to fear tall men, which this neighbour is, and she tends to bark quite a lot at people entering our house initially. The neighbour also owns an Alsatian which seriously attacked my dachshund over a year ago, and therefore now the only times she see's this dog is with this neighbour. she is also very close to me, so my dad believes she did this because i'm too close to her. i believe it could be because she is scared.
Do people think it is because she is being terirtorial or due to fear? how should I have reacted? and how can I prevent anything like this happening again, because i fully recognise the severity of dogs biting.
Many thanks.

Default Re: Dachshund biting problem

Biting can be caused by a lot of different reasons. Early aggression can be handled easily enough through the assertion of the alpha dog position. But, if it gets to the point where you are scared of how aggressive your dog is being or when, as in your case, they have bitten someone else, you may need help from a professional trainer.
