Hi,
I am really hoping you can help, we have a 9 month old Siberian Huskie and Staffordshire bull terrier. He’s a lovely dog, but is now starting to slowing send us to the end of our tether. He knows all the basics, fetch and retrieve, walk to heel, will come back when called (70% of the time!), drop, stay, wait, sit, lie and give paw. But he has a really bad habit of biting to try and get us to interact with him. At first we put this down to teething, but he’s getting bigger now and no longer feel this can be used as an explanation. We have tried so many suggested techniques, spraying water in his face and saying no, holding his mouth closed and saying no bite, putting him in a separate room for down time, turning our back and ignoring him (he just proceeds to jump up and try and bite our back pulling our tops down) walking away and he just bites and clings on to our feet, tapping him on the nose, tapping him on the nose with a newspaper, giving him a toy when he bites to show he can bite that instead but to no avail and his bite is starting to get VERY painful. He's never bitten anyone else apart from both of us. We always try to intract with him during the day and playing games such as hide and seek, and fetch, he has two walks a day for a minimum of an hour. We are thinking of having him castrated but no sure how much help that would do. Do you have any suggestions? We getting so frustrated now and don't know what to do. |

I guess your baby has a serious biting problem...
If you tried all the suggestions like you said in your post... Maybe you need a dog obedience trainer... ![]()

Hi
Just a suggestion for you to maybe try with your dog, if you put some small stones into a small drink bottle, when your dog goes to bite you then you should bang the bottle to startle the dog and then give the command NO. You should only use the bottle to deal with one bahviour problem, it is worth a try. It did work witha Jack Russell who I use to walk for a lady. Good Luck |
