Hi ive heard about these "dog training collars" which are used to controll dog barking, they have a unit which goes round the neck and a spray nozzle which sprays a mist of air onto dogs neck or nose, they are set off either by when the dog barks or by a remote control, does anyone else agree with using these, or does anyone use one at the moment, please note these are not electric anti bark collars!

I guess that has no bad effect to a dog...
And can help in training a dog...

but he must have been anxious of the new house, and I had just given birth that time and needs a little peace at night. But we only used once or twice since my husband was patient enough to befriend him right away. Like what I've read on the How To Stop A Dog Barking article on one of this site's pages, you just have to have the patience of knowing why your pets do something, why they are barking, but sometimes they are just really nuts when being anxious that you still have that kind of remote controls on the side![]() |

There is some interesting information regarding those collars. Especially the citronella ones. Cornell university did a study on them and found they are far more affective at stopping barking than the shock collars are. We have a video on our web site on how to use a couple different products to stop dog barking.

hi
i have used a citronella collar for my german shepherd who had seperation anxiety!!!! They work very well but you must follow the instructions closely! You lose all the effect if you are away for long periods of time and the collar runs out of product. I am in victoria and a lot of councils and vets will hire them out to save you purchasing one. (approx $200) cheers. |

I can't help feeling aversed towards bark collars - of any kind - but especially towards the shock ones. I recommend you try to work out why your dog barks and find some solutions to it like the ones suggested on these articles:
http://dogobedienceadvice.com/how_stop_dog_barking.php http://dogobedienceadvice.com/dog_barking_solutions.php http://dogobedienceadvice.com/stop_barking_advice.php http://dogobedienceadvice.com/why_do_dogs_bark.php If, after trying everything else your dog still insists on barking, then I guess you can use the spray collars. Still, you must understand that some of these collars set off aggression in some dogs. If you do decide to try using it, introduce it to your pet gradually. Just use it as a training assist and not the main training method itself. Also, don't forget the necessity of positive reinforcement. If your dog doesn't bark when they normally would, give them a treat for it. ![]() |
