Default Uncontrollable Barking

Hello everyone,

I have a serious problem. My dog Buckley is a lab/coonhound mix. He is an extremely loving dog and is for the most part well behaved. I have a huge problem with his constant barking though. He barks at everything including the neighbors, the mail man (he practically jumps through the window at him), squirrels, other dogs, my wife, and even me. I could go on forever. It seems like that is all he does. I would not mind as much but my wife and I are expecting a baby in about two months. I really need some advice on how to control this. Buckley has been to obedience classes and even got the best behaved award. LOL. Go figure. I would appreciate any advice you could provide.

Thank you.

Are you taking him for long walks? A tired dog is a happy dog. With him being a coon dog/hunting dog breed, he will need plenty of exercise to burn off that energy. (30 min or longer)

Hi BuckleysDad,
I got to tell you I think tater has a good suggestion about a tired dog is a happy dog. You really need to keep that dog going hard and often to ware him down. And now let's solve this problem by thinking outside the box, I solved this type of problem once with a friend's dog and here it come's I used a muzzle! yep I muzzled him to shut him up and he got the idea real quick that excessive barking got him muzzled and that was the end of that, when he saw the muzzle come out he ended it asap. People seem to think muzzle's are just for dog's that bite, not true, muzzle's are an effective dog training tool that can solve many problem's, so there you go, think outside the box!
