Sibling Rivalry - Jealous Sisters
My aunt got two aussie-mix puppies from the pound this past spring. They're about 9 months old now, littermates, both fixed, both female. One is very silly, the other more down-to-earth but both are huge bundles of cuddly affection.
The problem is, they are incredibly jealous of one another. You could tell when you're petting one and the other runs into the room and jumps on you for affection. When left outside during the day they would play and romp around with each other, or lay out on the deck. Recently, though, they've gotten incredibly territorial around each other. The change occured (noticeably) within the past few days. They circle each other and their hair goes up whenever they walk past each other. Just yesterday morning they got into a fight... they've been kept separated since (we have to take turns putting one in the yard and one in the house), because they try to start again the moment they get near each other.
My aunt lives alone and she couldn't break up another fight (and I can't always be there). Both are very sweet dogs and we would like to avoid getting rid of one or both. Anyone have any advice, training tips, or anything? We're thinking of finding a training-kennel place but don't know of any in the KY-WV-OH area.
