Default getting my dogs to get along

i currently have a female beagle who is about 6 years old and a shih tzu maltese who is about a 11 months old. and i'm about to get another dog who is a female golden retriever just a little over 5 months old. i'm really worried that the two females might not get along. any suggestions?

The beagle is more commonly known as the friendly breed. But since she's the older one, she may feel threatened by a new member of the family at first. So make sure you train your golden retriever about the rules on the house and separate them for a couple of weeks. Then bring them along together to go out and play with each other and observe the time when they are already interacting with each other.

If you introduce the new dog better to the old dogs...

Hi Lyka, those are great links there. I also want to point out that it will also be a great preventive measure for any pet owners to check on the basic qualities of a breed to think out if your chosen breeds will get along together before actually getting or adopting them. It will surely be less hassle for you in the future

Hey,

Make sure your new dog knows the house rules and give your olde dog a lot of EXTRA attention to start with. Make sure your older dog still feels number one - at least for a few weeks while they get settled together.
