Thumbs up Are Shar Peis Aggressive

I am in the process of choosing a shar. I've gotten some negative feed back from the local vet saying the ogs are very aggressive. Although, what I've read is quite the opposite if the dog is socialized young. Any comments? Pei Pup

Hi, I have a 1 year old male Shar Pei, Moe, who is absolutely beautiful.
I often take him out with me so he has always had the opportunity to meet new people and other dogs.
They do however pick a faviourte owner and tend to listen to them more than any other owners in thoe house so i would advise going to a puppy school together from a early stage.
They are beautiful dogs and if you havent adopted one already, do you will love him or her.

Sharpeis are really adorable dogs, and I love seeing pictures of them with their cute, droopy facial expression. I've read somehow that this breed is quite stubborn and standoffish but I tell you, no stubbornness can't be overcome by love, patience and proper training of its masters. They are also one of the best companions. Because their eyes are being limited by their facial skin, they tend to have poor peripheral visions, meaning they can't see who's coming from their sides, so they get easily startled, and become shy. You have to understand this if you're planning to be one of it's masters especially if you have kids so you can teach your kids the proper way of approaching them.

we have an eight year old shar pei and she is very loyal, yeh shes stubborn at times but definitely not aggressive. it all comes down to training, weve always tried to make sure she is well socialised. you do need to be firm with them but they respond well to that.

we havent really had any health problems with her either, apart from her being a bit overweight (27kg, should be more around 20-25).
