new dog urinates in house to take attention away from other dog
We are in the midst of scaling back the super attention we gave our foster dog in part because she needs to get used to not being a princess all the time and now that we've potty trained her & helped her through a lot of her socialization issues, we want to establish our trust of her. Unfortunately, she frequently urinates either in my husband's or my space OR in front of us whenever we give our other dog attention. When we catch her, she scold her loudly because it startles her and then put her outside. After no more than five minutes, we bring her back in OR go out to be with her as we don't want to have her think that being outside is a bad thing.
We have started kenneling her for part of the day while we're home just so we can get things done and so we can give our other dog the attention that she needs.
I'd love any advice you can give because she truly needs to stop attention peeing.. which is probably the "separation anxiety" some of her former owners cited for her surrender.
