omg im sorry to tell you this but ur going about this training all wrong! the purpose of crate training is to teach the dog not to go in the crate! as a trainer i am very against puppy pads in the first place they teach the dog "going" in the home is acceptable and that items with such a texture ie carpeting, rugs, clothes, mail ect. are fair game. so number 1 is immediatly get that paper out of the dogs cage. research crate training (its a long process to write but if u dont understand it or need help let me know). 3. you are encourging her to cry. when done properly the dog will whine and cry for about three days in the crate which must be COMPLETELY IGNORED dont yell at the dog try to comfort her let her out or in any way acknowledge the dog is even alive. of course u will be letting her out to go outside eat or SUPERVISED play but aside from that ignore her! she has learned if i cry i get let out or a reaction. the howling whining and barking will increase at first but i assure u get some ear plugs after 3-4 days she will stop. be aware i am not trying to put you down. you are human she is a dog there is a whole species diff between us and its really impossible to know exactly how to communicate whats expected unless you know exactly what you are doing. so many good dogs end up in shelters and owners at wits end bc of this. dont feel discouraged.
